Bryan Hamer - the man that literally painted every single
allover advert bus and tram between 1971 and 2003 as well
as many more mundane "ordinary" adverts on Blackpool's
buses and trams as well as the buses
of Fylde Borough Transport (Blue Buses). There are, literally,
hundreds of them!
.....and just to show that everyone makes mistakes we will
include some of the spelling mistakes that always prompted
a sharp rebuff from the artist and professional that Bryan
was.
Those who knew Bryan well will know only too well what
rebuff would have been.... but more of that when we complete
the short biography of the man synonymous with the advert
buses and trams of Blackpool and Fylde written, in part
by Michael Morton who counts Bryan as a friend since his
teens (Michael's that is!) and by his beloved wife Shirley
and daughter Julie.
We only hope that we can do justice to the career of this
man who left a marked impression on everyone who met him.
In the image gallery are just a few of the buses and trams
that Bryan painted. Over the next few months we will post
a photograph of every single one he painted

The very first all-over
advert livery to run in Blackpool was Leyland PD3
No. 398 (CFR 598C) and was painted by Bryan in 1971.
